MANUSCRIPT GUIDELINES

The Red River Valley Historical Journal, published annually by the Southwestern Historical Association, welcomes submissions from all fields of history.  Beyond solid documentation and readability, the major criteria for acceptance will be the value of the manuscript to a general audience.  By going against the trend to specialize, we hope to initiate a dialogue among scholars and to help professors keep up to date with changing interpretations outside their primary field of interest.

1.      Authors should submit two complete copies of their manuscript [approximately 8,000 to 9,000 words].  A self-addressed, stamped envelope should be included if the manuscripts are to be returned.

2.      The author's name, postal address, email address and telephone number should appear on the title page.  The author's identity should appear nowhere else in the manuscript.

3.      All manuscripts should be typewritten, double spaced including notes and tables.  Right hand margin should be unjustified.

4.      Notes should appear as endnotes using the Chicago Manual of Style.

5.      Once the manuscript has been accepted for publication, authors will provide the RRVHJ an electronic copy on a CD in WordPerfect or Word format.

6.      Mail or email your manuscript to the editor at the address above.

7.      Persons wishing to review articles or books should send a c.v. to the editor.
